Rated 4 out of 5 by Good learning experience but bring money if you get thirsty! Enjoyed the session and the tuition was excellent. Thought it would be a little more hands on but that did not detract from learning a great deal. I did feel however that we were shortchanged on the beer part of the beer and bbq. Whilst I fully appreciate the responsible serving of alcohol 3 half glasses at best of beer to match the food was poor 21 January 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by good but lacked the overall experience the BBQ course attended was a good get- together with mates and chat and learn a few things on the BBQ but it could be better in the teaching and cost. the presenter was quite good but need the following points to be heavily recommended and value for money: - when offering beer, it should be a full glass not 1/3 of pot glass and advise how the beer types is selected with each meal, so we then can match them later on - teach about the sides and how to cook the pumpkin salad and the other salads - instead of giving them to you as sides - meat basics - what to look for when buyinh - hoe to prepare - bbq basics - cleaning and prep before the cooking - the sales pich at the end of the function, not being able to leave before forms complete - $140 is alot without thsesmall but finishing trimmings the cookbook was a good and will be used 21 January 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent day with some yummy food! I BBQ a lot but found this course to be very rewarding, some great beer was enjoyed and the teaching was informative and fun! 20 January 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very enjoyable experience I did not know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the experience. Not only was the chef and staff very informative but the other participants had a wealth of useful tips . It was nice after every thing was cooked to socialize with the other participants over nice food and a beer .I gained some useful skills and was complemented on my first attempt to cook a roast as I was shown at the cooking class 31 December 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Ok, but not quite what I had hoped it would be.. The starting time was a bit ambiguous in the paperwork (one part said 3:00 another said 3:30), so I arrived a bit early and struck up a conversation with other participants that were also waiting for the previous session to finish. The mood was high and we had a bit of a laugh, but immediately got told by the tutor to hush up! Welcome to school! The food and beer matching session was a non-event: a couple of quarter-full glasses were served throughtout the event but there was no mention of what type or brand of beer it was or why that particular type was chosen. There cooking class was mainly focussed around the tutor talking and waffling on, with another chef doing most of the actual cooking either out of view or without interacting with the participants. There was very limited hands-on experience gained by the participants. Some of the tools and ingredients used, appeared to have come out of a professional kitchen, and were not something the average barbequer would have in their kitchen, so some 'translation' was required. The tutor gave us a rule of thumb re. cooking time for a roast, yet she had to double the time when it came to her actually cooking it so it was difficult to know what advice to believe. The venue was trendy and interesting but the actual cooking area was fairly crowded, dark, windy and cold, and most of the time you couldn't see what was going on because of the people lined up in front of you. The positive notes: I did walk away with - if not new skills - then at least renewed inspiration. Also, the food was very tasty and I appreciated that we received a recipe book so that we didn't have to memorize all the ingredients and quantities. Having a yarn and sharing experiences / advice with the other participants was almost the best part of the cooking class..! 28 December 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by BBQ & BEER- WHAT MORE COULD A GUY WANT! I went with a mate after our wives bought us the beer & bbq experience as a present. We both had a great day, learnt a few things on the way including how to get from one side of Sydney to the other by public transport (we knew we would not be able to drive home). The class was great, our instructor was a great presenter and a wealth of knowledge, the other participants were great people as well. What a way to spend an afternoon/evening, cooking, drinking and then public transport home!. Only negative is it would be good to have venues in other parts of Sydney. 16 December 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent experience A very enjoyable afternoon where I learnt more than I thought I could and all done in a very entertaining way. The chef was very knowlegable about far more than just barbecuing and was able to empart his knowledge in an easy to understand way. The course showed how easy it is to BBQ simply and with great results. I always thought I was good at the BBQ but since the course I've already had 2 BBQ's at home and the results were better than anything ive done in the past and everyone was very impressed - id recomend this course and will be looking at the other BBQ courses on offer. Cheers Greg 15 December 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Yummy experience It was surprising how much food was provided. The combination of the food and beer was very enjoyable with the quantity of the beer sufficent to taste without over indulging. Our host was very hospitable and made the experience memorable. 15 December 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by Was a good experience Good preentation, service and food the Willoughby Hotel wasnt a great venue .This is because it was a very hot day and found it extremely hot with all the bbq's running. But you have no control over weather that was my only negative. All in all a positive experience 3 December 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by It was OK Loud group nearby so difficult to hear. Thought it was a BBQ and beer matching but only a small amount of beer per course and no explanation on type or matching of beers. 2 December 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good fun and education The Beer and BBQ was good fun with like minded people in a relaxed setting. Gerard and Will were great hosts and I came away feeling I had learned things as well as having a great lunch. 2 December 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by A Learning experience but people skills below par. Meeting and greeting (first impression) was bad. Guy was too busy setting up. Shambles initially. Teaching very good. Boutique beer never announced so did not know what we were drinking. Glasses only half full. 1 December 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing I had previously attended a Bar B Q School event and had a good idea of what to expect. This event was poorly organized and structured. The scallops were frozen and could not be prepared at the optimum. There was then a long delay with nothing happening. There was insufficient steak. The pancakes were a flop and not eatable. There was bickering among the staff. 28 November 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good tips and congenial atmosphere, but chef just going through the motions. Perhaps not helped by this being the second BBQ course of the day, chef seemed a bit tired and whilst he was looking to stir-up some energy kept on putting his sous-chef down. Cooking was great, but it would have been good to do more of it (deserts, for example were pretty much made by his sous-chef, rather than by us). Nice beers, great food, good atmosphere. Ran out of cook-books at the end - they promised to send after the course, but none arrived so far. 25 November 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great time....yummy food and entertaining chefs We ate delicious food, drank good beer, had a laugh with entertaining chefs and learnt a few handy tips so all in all it was a fantastic couple of hours. I highly recommend this experience and have already told friends they should go. 25 November 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Great staff, shocking conditions The cooking and demonstrating staff were let down by lack of preparation that included frozen ingredients and limited cooking materials including oil. This was topped off by burnt deserts that were all thrown in the bin. 25 November 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by This was a fantastic experience Great atmosphere, really enjoyable experience. Taught very practical menu that's easy but impressive. 21 November 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent course, I have learnt so much and now think I'm a masterchef on the BBQ 3 July 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 A great experience. It opened my eyes as to how much more you can do with a BBQ other than burning sausages. 3 July 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 Our facilitators Tony and Shane at the Beer and BBQ coursre at Ashgrove Golf Club in Brisbane were very knowledgeable and very supportive. They did a great job. The course itself was excellent. 4 June 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Only negative - too many people too few bbq's to be able to put into practice what was explained on day. Presenters were great. 4 June 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 Great cooking class but could have been a little more interactive and the host should have done more to get the participants enjoying the session, some ice breaking activities would have been ideal to start the session. Just to get the group laughing and talking with one another. 4 June 2012
