Rated 5 out of 5 by My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Staff at both Castlemaine and Maldon stations were very friendly and helpful. The conductor was very professional and very informative regarding the train and the operation of the engine (loco). My husband had the opportunity to ride up front with the engineer, Murray and the fireman, Graham which he enjoyed very much. A beautiful day and experience, thank you to all the staff and volunteers involved. 23 July 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by My wife and I had a very enjoyable experience visiting the Victorian Goldfields Railway and travelling on the steam train from Maldon to Castlemaine and return. We made it a great experience by staying at the B & B in Maldon which allowed us to fully appreciate the sights of Maldon. 19 June 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great day out. Enjoyed the experience, excellent glass of local wine, cheese platter would have been better if it came with dry biscuits, ours had chips. Still enjoyed but was just not quite what you would have expected of a cheese platter. We did trip Castlemaine to Maldon and enjoyed free time in Maldon before returning on afternoon train to Castlemaine 13 June 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by The gift for my partner from his daughter was a great idea and greatly looked forward to. However, on arrival to enjoy the experience (goldfields steam train ride) were told the first class unavailable due to a carriage derailment a few days earlier. But, the ride went ahead, he rode in the engine and we did enjoy a scaled down version of cheese platter and drink. The staff were most apologetic and obliging, so ride was still enjoyable. A lazy day had by us both. 26 March 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 We thoroughly enjoyed the train journey on very hot day in February. Expecting a diesel engine because of the weather we were pleasantly surprised when the steam train pulled into the station. The wine that was offered was excellent, however the cheese platter that went with it was mediocre and not representative of the advertising on your website. I would recommend this experience to others and would probably undertake the journey again in a few years time. 27 February 2012
